Born on February 2, 1983, in Achimota,
Greater Accra, Ahmmed Kanneh Larweh, known the world
over as Sparqlyn, has spent more than
two decades building a career that transcends music. He
is an artist, a chief, a businessman, a scholar, and a
cultural bridge-builder.
From class 4, he was already performing at school speech
and prize-giving days. After completing his education at
Rives Academy International School and
Asanteman Secondary School, he
committed fully to music in 2003.
"Honored to receive recognition from MUSIGA. This is
for every young talent striving to make a
difference. Let's keep pushing Ghana music forward."
He joined the legendary Hiplife trio
Dunsin, fusing Krobo, Kwahu Twi, and
Akuapem dialects into a distinctive sound unlike
anything Ghana had heard. Under the name
Kele, he helped build one of the most
respected acts in the Ghanaian Hiplife era, winning
international acclaim at the
MUSA awards in South Africa, 2013.
In 2018, Sparqlyn embarked on a solo journey, deepening
his Afrobeats sound with hits Jump On Me,
Your Body, Tumpa, and
All Is Gone.
In January 2023, he was formally
enstooled as the
Development Chief of Krobo Odumase,
bearing the royal title
Nene Kanneh Larweh I, Noryam Matse. He has
championed scholarship schemes, promoted Ga-Adangbe
unity, and collaborated with Ghana's most senior
traditional leaders.
His 2025 was extraordinary, winning
Six major awards including the AFRICAN
PERFORMANCE LEADERSHIP AWARDS African Best Ghanaian
Musician of the Year, Stars Awards Africa Artiste of the
Decade, and two prestigious MUSIGA awards at the Akwaaba
Festival.
